How this look comes together
This corner garland is pure energy: saturated yellow, royal blue and red in generous clusters, with black anchoring the base so the bright colors really pop off the wall.
It runs up the corner and across the ceiling line toward the mantel, where a photo banner — game stills printed letter by letter — spells out the birthday message. The garland frames it without covering it.
The structure is a favorite for any theme built on bold colors: video games, superheroes, sports teams, school colors. Swap one color and it becomes a completely different party.
Styling notes
Keep the walls plain and let the garland shout: color-blocked desserts, a pixel-style banner or the game’s own logo on the mantel, and a prop or two (a controller, a trophy) on the dessert table. Black balloons at the base ground the brights and keep the look sharp. Bright primaries photograph best in clean, even light — lamps on, overheads off. Take the hero photo at the corner itself, with the garland rising on one side and running along the top of the frame. Our tip: Swap one color to the birthday boy’s team or game — the structure stays, the party becomes his.
